The Challenge
The client sought a more effective way to manage their IT assets through a proactive approach to asset tracking and prioritized activities for enhanced management.
They needed clarity on task assignments and the sequence of tasks. A new strategy would enable them to identify optimization opportunities across their IT estate and address risks and unbudgeted software costs more effectively.
Despite this, the client lacked expertise in software license management for key publishers, which hindered their ability to uncover and leverage optimization opportunities. Additionally, their software asset management tools didn’t have the features needed for effective proactive management of their IT assets.
The Solution
Anglepoint saw that the client needed one place to manage all optimization suggestions for important software vendors. Our team recommended that the client focus on technology investments and leverage a module in ServiceNow called SAM Success Portal.
Using ServiceNow Discovery and SAM Pro, Anglepoint assigned activities to stakeholders through the module.
This data-driven approach involved working with key application owners to review purchased versus deployed software. The outcome was a comprehensive identification of risk, cost savings, and cost avoidance opportunities.
ServiceNow’s module enabled the client to manage IT assets effectively by tracking cost savings, overdue tasks, and completed tasks.
An action plan with prioritized tasks and clear remediation instructions was created. Given the client’s limited ITAM knowledge, guidance was provided on the necessary steps and program enhancements. With this plan in place, Anglepoint implemented recommendations to achieve optimization.
The client can now save time and easily track the status of all optimization and risk remediation recommendations. The clear plan allows them to manage their IT assets more efficiently through ServiceNow.

Additionally, the client benefits from regular, measurable, repeatable, and sustainable KPI reporting.
